Melissia & Alex

Melissia & Alex

Melissia & Alex here! We absolutely LOVE spending time outside and head into the wilderness as often as possible. Camping, hiking, fishing, snowshoeing, panning for gemstones, and soaking in hot springs are some of our favorite pastimes. Our fur kids are our constant companions on all of our adventures. Our mission is to share the love of the outdoors with others. Not only do we want to inspire you to get out in nature, we want to help get you there and enjoy yourself while you're doing it! We provide inspiration and education through our blog and social media platforms.
Winter on the middle fork of the Boise River

Adventures Along the Middle Fork of the Boise River

Picture this: Sitting on the private deck of a cute cabin looking out over the Middle Fork of the Boise River. You start to get a little chilly so decide to warm up by climbing down into the hot tub that is fed from a natural hot springs source. Sounds like a pretty ideal spot doesn’t it? Well this is what you get when you enjoy a stay at the Twin Springs resort! Alex and I recently had the pleasure…

Adventuring Close to Home – Weekend Warriors

A weekend warrior is defined in the Oxford dictionary as someone “who participates in an activity only in their spare time.” That’s what Alex and I are. We LOVE traveling and going on adventures but we both have full-time jobs. Contrary to what some may think – we don’t get paid to travel (we wish!). Lately people have surprised me by saying something similar to, “you guys are so lucky to be able to go on so many adventures! I wish…

Hiking Cathedral Rock – Sedona

While in Sedona last summer, my sister-in-law Celeste, our friend Daryn, and myself wanted to get at least one of the more popular hikes in. We happened to be staying down the road from Oak Creek where the Baldwin Trail can be accessed. This is one of the ways you can get to Cathedral Rock. If you use the AllTrails app, you can find this particular route under Cathedral Rock to Red Rock Crossing. It’s a 4.3 mile out and…

Sedona/Grand Canyon Adventures 2021-Part Two: Honanki Cliff Dwellings

Our adventures continued with a visit to the Honanki Ciff Dwellings about 15 miles outside of Sedona in the Coconino National Forest. If you have never been, we highly recommend taking the time to go! There’s just something special about feeling like you are taking a step back in time. I imagine we had a fairly similar view of the area as the people who occupied the cliff dwellings long ago. History has always interested me so I was pretty…

Sedona/Grand Canyon Adventures 2021 – Part One

Alex and I were fortunate enough to tag along with the crew at E.M. Motors Boise & Launch Vans on their trip to Sedona for the 2021 Overland Expo (West). What an adventure it was! Neither of us had been to Sedona or the Grand Canyon so we were excited to experience all these places had to offer an adventurer. Add to that was the opportunity to get Vannah out on a long road trip as well! Our trip took…

Confessions of a Reformed Trail Degrader

Have you ever come across a mud puddle right in the middle of your hiking trail? What did you do….go around it or walk through it? Confessions: Personally if I encountered mud, I used to go around it. I mean, who wants mud all over their boots and clothes, right?! Turns out….traveling thru the mud puddle is the better of the two options because it doesn’t make the trail wider if others decide to follow your non-mud puddle route.  Widening…

Confessions of a Former Litter Bug

Have you ever thrown a banana peel or an orange peel into the brush while camping? Confession time – I have. “Why would you ever do such a thing,” my horrified self of today asks my oblivious past self?! I didn’t really think it was that big of a deal back then. I mean, after all, won’t some cute little squirrel appreciate an easy snack, I would ask myself? Or I might also think, it’s food – it will decompose…

Well, Hello Vannah….Our Completed Build is Here

You guys….Vannah White is finished!! We opted for a different layout that is perfect for us and our two fur kids. We have storage now which helps us feel less agitated because everything has a home and can be organized. We’ve taken her out a couple times and wow…what a difference! It’s so nice feeling like we have space especially since we’re in a 144 low roof Sprinter. We wanted to maximize the space as best as we could and…

Encountering Snakes in the Outdoors

Snakes. They get my heart pumping and cause me to instinctively recoil from them. If I’m camping or hiking and encounter them, I usually jump back and scream. I do not want to be too close to them. Not only because I don’t want to get a snake bite but also because they are one of those creatures that simply creeps me out. My Uncle Mike loved snakes (maybe he still does) and I recall him showing them to me…
